11th annual Energy Transitions Conference 2027

The UEF Law School, in cooperation with the UEF Centre for Climate Change, Energy and Environmental Law (CCEEL), and supported by the European Research Council and the Research Council of Finland, is pleased to announce the call for abstracts for its 2027 energy law and policy conference.

The event will take place on 25 and 26 February 2027 at the UEF’s campus in Joensuu, Finland.

Thanks to the kind support of our sponsors, attendance is free of charge. Please note that we cannot offer financial support to cover participant’s costs of travel and accommodation in whole or in part.

Call for abstracts

We invite abstract submissions for presentations by 30 November 2026.

We welcome submissions within the following themes:

  • The foundations, evolution and future directions of energy law
  • The principles, concepts and objectives shaping energy law
  • The interplay between energy law and other areas of law
  • The role of science in law
  • The role of energy law in responding to crises and disruption
  • The role of law in shaping and governing energy transitions
  • The relationship between energy markets, regulation and the public interest
  • The implementation, enforcement and effectiveness of energy law
  • Comparative approaches to energy law
  • Interdisciplinary and international approaches to energy law

We welcome submissions focused on the overall theme of the conference, as well as on any other topics relevant to energy law.

Guidelines for abstracts:

Abstracts must be written in English, complete with the presentation title, name, institutional affiliation and contact details of the author(s).

Abstracts should be 200–300 words long.

Abstracts should contain the aim of the paper, main points and a brief conclusion. Abstracts should not contain footnotes, tables or graphs.

Abstracts must include a short speaker’s biography.

Abstracts should be submitted via the abstract submission form.

This is a self-funded trip, although complimentary transportation will be provided from the UEF’s campus in Joensuu to Koli. Spouses are welcome to join.
