The European Green Deal: Governing the EU’s Transition towards Climate Neutrality and Sustainability (GreenDeal-NET)
The European Green Deal: Governing the EU’s Transition towards Climate Neutrality and Sustainability (GreenDeal-NET) is a Jean Monnet Network that aims to dissect the European Green Deal, and the complex set of governance challenges related to sustainability and climate neutrality it poses. The network deepens our understanding of what a fair and effective climate transition could look like by focusing on the governance of the European Green Deal. It is a platform for collaboration and debate on teaching and research.
While 12 European universities coordinated by the Centre for Environment, Economy and Energy of the Brussels School of Governance form the core of the network, it seeks out to expand beyond these to both the European and global academic community, and to other key players working on the EU’s transition to a sustainable low-carbon society.
GreenDeal-NET builds on previous successful networking projects, including the COST Action on Innovations in Climate Governance (INOGOV), as well as the Jean Monnet Network on “Governing the EU’s Climate and Energy Transition in Turbulent Times” (GOVTRAN).
Project duration: 2022-2025
