Law in Water and Environmental Governance

Dr Antti BelinskijProfessor of Environmental and Water Law and Dr Niko Soininen, Professor of Environmental and Water Law have established a new CCEEL research group entitled Law in Water and Environmental Governance.

The group studies law and society from a spatial river basin perspective. The theoretical underpinnings of the group are influenced by complex social-ecological systems and adaptive governance perspectives.

The group approaches water and environmental law as a multi-level and multi-sectoral societal phenomenon. The group consists of environmental law and policy scholars and collaborates closely with different fields of law, scientific disciplines and research institutions both domestically and globally.

The operation of the group consists of monthly research group meetings under specific water-related themes and annual international conference on water law and governance.
