Strengthening democratic governance for climate transitions (2024-2027)

New Horizon Europe project RETOOL: Strengthening democratic governance for climate transitions

Annalisa Savaresi will lead CCEEL’s contribution to Horizon Europe project RETOOL: Strengthening democratic governance for climate transitions.

The project will study how diverse types of institutions across European democracies –including parliaments, executives, courts, climate advisory bodies, citizens’ assemblies & mobilisation by activists – are  evolving and innovating to respond to the climatecrisis.

RETOOL starts in February 2024 and will run for 3 years. It will be coordinated by Diarmuid Torney Dublin City University and brings together an international and interdisciplinary consortium including Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Università di Trento, Ghent University, University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), University of Eastern Finland, HOLISTIC , DD Foundation and The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

Annalisa Savaresi will lead the work on courts and climate advisory bodies, working in partnership with colleagues at LSE and VUB.

The project grows out of our existing collaboration within the GreenDeal-NET Jean Monnet network.
