Our research integrates drug design, medicinal chemistry, transporter biology, pharmacokinetics, and disease-focused pharmacology to develop novel transporter-utilizing therapeutics for tissue-, cell-, and organelle-selective drug delivery.
Computational Drug Design
Computational modelling, including molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations (MDS), and structure-based drug design, are used to identify and optimize transporter substrates, inhibitors, and transporter-utilizing prodrugs.
Medicinal Chemistry
Novel compounds and prodrugs are synthesized, purified, and structurally characterized using state-of-the-art analytical techniques.
Drug Characterization
Physicochemical, pharmaceutical, and metabolic properties are evaluated to assess compound stability, solubility, protein binding, and bioconversion.
Transporter Biology
Transporter-mediated uptake, targeting efficiency, and transport mechanisms are investigated using cellular models expressing specific transport proteins. Our methodologies enable the development and evaluation of targeted therapeutics from the molecular level to tissue-, cell-, and organelle-specific delivery.
Pharmacokinetics and Drug Delivery
The distribution, metabolism, tissue targeting, and efficacy of novel compounds are evaluated in preclinical in vitro and in vivo models.
Biomarker Discovery
Advanced LC-MS-based proteomics, metabolomics, and lipidomics approaches are used to identify biomarkers, characterize biological responses, and support translational research in neurological, oncological, cardiovascular, and pregnancy-related disorders.
Research Infrastructure and Collaborative Expertise
Our research activities are supported by the Drug Discovery and Molecular Characterisation of Organic Molecules and Substances (DDMM-MCOS) platform. Through this infrastructure, we provide expertise in drug design, medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, transporter biology, pharmacokinetics, metabolomics, proteomics, and biomarker discovery, supporting both internal and external research collaborations (link embedded to the headline).
