Joensuu through the Seasons
Hello! It’s been 8 months since the MSc in European Forestry Program batch 2022-2024 commenced. We are half-way through the Spring Semester so I thought it would be nice to share several photos in Joensuu that I took 6-8 months apart in the same spot to show how interesting it is to take the program and more so, start it in Joensuu.
Studying in Joensuu will give you a 360-degree view of four seasons starting with summer when you arrive in August and when relatively there is more sun and less people. It is the more vibrant and relaxed version of Joensuu. I would say it would be a perfect time to get to know the city. Autumn follows just as other international students start arriving to start their respective programs. Colors are everywhere making Autumn my favorite season. The weather begins to get a bit colder which makes learning more comfortable. You’ll start taking different courses for the semester at this time.
In the middle of the last quarter of the year, snow starts falling without you even realizing that it is already winter. It will last for quite some time, but you will get used to the snow. It’s still snowing here by the way while we are approaching springtime. Winter is the more reserved version of Joensuu, and it would be a great time to spend time with friends and explore and do winter activities. This would be the perfect time to try glögi during the holidays!
Currently, we’re transitioning to spring. And before the ice totally melts, it would be nice to show you some photos that I took to highlight how we travelled through the seasons.
