Instructions for posters and oral presentations

Oral presentations

The length of an oral presentation is 10-15 minutes. One thematic session will last 90 minutes in total and will include a variable number of presentations. There will also be time for discussion. Please ensure that you do not exceed your own time so that everyone has equal time to give their presentation.

A maximum of 10 powerpoint slides, including opening and closing slides, can be prepared for the presentation. Tips for preparing slides below in poster instructions.

Links to the Zoom rooms for the thematic sessions will be provided on the web pages of the days in the programme. When your own presentation comes up, you can share the presentation from your own computer. Please check beforehand that your internet connection and microphone are in working order. In order to be prepared for technical problems, please send the ppt file of your presentation in advance to the organising committee by 3 October via this link.

Poster presentations

Posters are presented in video form this year. A video poster is a recording of a maximum of 5 minutes in which the author presents their poster. In the poster, the main points are compiled on a single sheet of paper and the presentation can be in the form of a single powerpoint slide, for example. The following general guidelines should be followed when preparing a poster:

  • Keep your slide compact and simple. Avoid long sentences.
  • Use graphics and figures instead of large tables.
  • Use colours to highlight key sections and issues.
  • Use bullet points to present conclusions.

Please send your presentation in advance to the organising committee by 3 October to the following address: emma.aarnio@uef.fi
