Jean Monnet Network on Governing the EU’s Climate and Energy Transition in Turbulent Times (2018-2021)

The Jean Monnet Network on Governing the EU’s Climate and Energy Transition in Turbulent Times (GOVTRAN) addresses the critical transformation that the goal of providing clean energy to all Europeans and implementing the Paris Agreement on climate change implies. With the support of the Erasmus+ Programme of the EU, GOVTRAN provides a platform for a broad range of scholars interested in climate and energy governance in the European Union and actively fosters engagement with policymakers and the broader public in this field.

Launched in 2019, GOVTRAN has sponsored a number of events across Europe, such as roundtable debates, webinars and lectures  and initiated a variety of publications and other outputs, including policy briefs, podcasts, special issues of journals, and an online course.

The GOVTRAN network is managed by the Institute for European Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (lead), Ghent University, the University of East Anglia and the University of Eastern Finland.
