Applications of Photonics 2025
University of Eastern Finland (UEF) will once again host the annual Applications of Photonics lecture series in autumn 2025. The series will be held in a hybrid format — on-site at the Joensuu campus and online via Microsoft Teams — and is open to all.
Organized in collaboration with the PREIN flagship and Photonics Finland, the lectures are hosted by Professor Jyrki Saarinen and begin on October 29th, 2025.
Weekly Schedule
- Tuesdays: 12:15–14:00
- Wednesdays: 10:15–12:00
- Thursdays: 14:15–16:00
Each session features expert talks on real-world applications of photonics and presentations from companies in the field. After each lecture, a dedicated discussion session allows for questions and informal networking among participants.

- Access: Free of charge and open to everyone

Presenters and Companies
The list of participating companies and speakers for 2025 is currently being finalized. Updates will follow as details are confirmed. As in previous years, the series will bring together professionals from a range of organizations working with photonics technologies and innovations.
Save the Date
The series runs from October 29th onwards for several weeks. Whether attending in person or online, participants are welcome to join as many sessions as they like.
