Synopsis
Coherence and polarization of light continue to attract strong interest among the optics and physics communities. The present conference entitled Current Paths and New Horizons is the third in the Joensuu Conference Series on Coherence and Random Polarization, devoted to the electromagnetic aspects of random light. The first two conferences were arranged in 2014 and 2018 in Joensuu but the roots of the event extend even farther. The series can be viewed as a successor of the ICO Topical Meeting on Polarization Optics (Polvijärvi, 2003) and Koli Workshop on Partial Electromagnetic Coherence and Polarization (Koli, 2009), both of which were organized in the Joensuu area.
The main purpose of the conference is to gather again the leading scientists around the world to present their newest results related to the broad topic of optical coherence and polarization of random light. In addition to the scientifically appealing program, we expect to have lively discussions on the conference topics during the social programs.
Oral presentations are by invitation and contributed papers are accepted as posters. Only a limited number of submissions can be accepted. The conference will be organized as an on-site event.

Venue
The conference will be held at the Joensuu campus of the University of Eastern Finland. Joensuu is a vibrant and growing regional center which has a great deal to offer: the Karelian lifestyle, a city center with a multiplicity of services, and the Pielisjoki River flowing through it with its many possibilities. The urban lifestyle and quiet rural areas live side by side in Joensuu. All at once Joensuu is a high-tech center currently emphasizing photonics research and technology, a thriving rock music city (Ilosaari rock in July), the Karelian marketplace, and the silence of the wilderness.
